European Heritage Days 2021: 5 Unmissable Events Across Italy

The 2021 European Heritage Days (GEP) take place across Italy on September 25-26, with the theme 'Heritage: All Inclusive' chosen by the Council of Europe and European Commission to promote inclusive cultural participation. Hundreds of state museums, civic museums, galleries, foundations, and private associations participate, offering guided tours, special initiatives, and openings of normally closed spaces. In Rome, the Capitoline Museums and archaeological sites offer free guided tours with specific routes for deaf and blind visitors, including a theatrical improvisation at Museo di Casal de' Pazzi and a glass cinema exhibition at Museo delle Mura. At Sirmione's Castello Scaligero, actor and Dante scholar Mirco Cittadini reads and comments on Inferno Canto XX from a canoe or SUP in the dock, marking the first time the dock opens from the water.
