European Cultural Centre's Personal Structures Biennial Returns to Venice with Beyond Boundaries Exhibition
The seventh edition of Personal Structures, titled Beyond Boundaries, opens in Venice on April 20, 2024, running through November 24. Organized by the European Cultural Centre Italy, this biennial exhibition coincides with the 60th Venice Biennale and features over 200 artists and thinkers from 51 countries. Three historic Venetian venues—Palazzo Bembo, Palazzo Mora, and Marinaressa Gardens—will host the exhibition, with special opening events scheduled for April 18-19. The exhibition explores themes of borders—geographic, political, religious, cultural, and artistic—through photography, sculpture, performance, and new media. Participants include both established and emerging international artists alongside art institutions and galleries, all examining national identity and global migration challenges. Since its 2011 inception, Personal Structures has documented contemporary art's diversity, alternating annually with the architecture biennial Time Space Existence. The European Cultural Centre, a Netherlands-based nonprofit, promotes cultural exchange through exhibitions, publications, and educational programs.
