European Art Fair Monaco Opens Despite Nice Attack
The sixth edition of the European Art Fair Monaco opened at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo just seven days after the jihadist attack in Nice, with organizers choosing to proceed as an act of defiance against terror. The fair runs until July 24, 2016, featuring over thirty exhibitors specializing in luxury goods including jewelry, contemporary art, antique furniture, and classical sculpture. Directed by Renaud Siegmann, the event has a strong Italian presence: the organizing committee includes Marietta Vinci-Corsini, Adriano Ribolzi, Alfredo Pallesi, and Louis Toninelli, all of Italian origin. Italian exhibitors include antiquarians Lampronti, Moretti, Sabbadini, and galleries Robilant+Voena (with locations in Milan and London), Società di Belle Arti di Viareggio, and Tonelli of Milan, alongside participants from Paris, London, Dubai, Hong Kong, Brussels, New York, Miami, and Tokyo. The fair is under the patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco. Accompanying exhibitions include "Les Arbres Brûlés" and "Francis Bacon between Monaco, France and Spain," both at the Grimaldi Forum.
