Europa Nostra annuncia 12 siti candidati al programma 7 Most Endangered 2018

Europa Nostra, in partnership with the European Investment Bank Institute, has announced the 12 nominations for the 2018 edition of the 7 Most Endangered program, which aims to raise awareness about the deterioration of European cultural heritage. The nominated sites, suggested by both public and private organizations within the Europa Nostra network, are located across ten countries: the historic center of Gjirokastra (Albania), post-Byzantine churches in Voskopoja and Vithkuqi (Albania), the historic center of Vienna (Austria), the coal processing factory in Beringen (Belgium), the Buzludzha Monument (Bulgaria), the Chiatura cable car system (Georgia), the David Gareji monastery complex (Georgia), the Sammezzano Castle in Tuscany (Italy, nominated by the Italian Touring Club), the Constanta Casino (Romania), prehistoric rock art sites in Cadiz province (Spain), the Greek orphanage in Prinkipo (Turkey), and the Grimsby ice factory (United Kingdom). Threats to these sites include neglect, inadequate development, lack of resources, and vandalism. The final list of the seven most endangered sites will be revealed on March 15, 2018.
