Eur Photo Project: New Photography Festival in Rome Explores Literature

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Eur Photo Project, a new photography festival in Rome, will launch on February 25, 2022, at the Nuvola di Fuksas in the EUR district, running until March 9. Curated by photographer Marco Delogu, former director of the FotoGrafia festival (2000-2016) and the Italian Cultural Institute in London (2015-2019), the event focuses on the relationship between photography and literature. The festival spans 3,000 square meters within the iconic Fuksas-designed building, featuring exhibitions, work-in-progress projects, bookshops, collectives, and meetings with writers and photographers. It is produced by EUR Culture for Rome and supported by a rich institutional partnership. The festival coincides with the centenary of Pier Paolo Pasolini's birth and the 30th anniversary of Luigi Ghirri's death (February 14, 1992). Delogu emphasizes the strong connection to the EUR territory, noting Pasolini's later years living there and the complex fascist heritage of the district. The program includes discussions with Pasolini experts like Walter Siti and explores themes such as the legacy of fascist architecture. Delogu, who has collaborated with writers like Edoardo Albinati, Emanuele Trevi, and Erri De Luca, and photographers like Olivo Barbieri, Paolo Ventura, and Jacopo Benassi, sees a continued vibrant cultural milieu uniting artists and writers. The festival's future as a recurring event remains uncertain.
