Euphoria actor Toby Wallace defends final season's different vibe

Toby Wallace, who plays neo-Nazi drug dealer Wayne in the third season of Euphoria, says he understands the mixed reaction to the final season. The British-Australian actor joined the HBO show for its last series, which aired after a five-year break. Creator Sam Levinson confirmed in a New York Times interview that the season three finale was the last episode ever. Wallace believes Levinson deliberately avoided replicating previous seasons, aiming to create something original. The season features dark themes including drug smuggling, erotic content, and violence. Some fans feel stars Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi have outgrown the drama. Wallace describes the cast as welcoming and praises Zendaya's professionalism. The final episode included a tribute to Angus Cloud, who died in 2023 from an accidental overdose, using old test footage with Zendaya. Wallace found the tribute "really gorgeous" and admired Cloud's performance. He had watched every episode three times before joining the show, calling the experience a "fever dream."
