Eungie Joo named SFMOMA's inaugural contemporary art curator

Eungie Joo is set to join the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art as its first contemporary art curator starting in June 2017, following the museum's recent reopening. Her role will involve organizing exhibitions and managing collection acquisitions across several areas, such as Painting and Sculpture, Photography, and Media Arts. Joo previously directed art and cultural projects at Instituto Inhotim in Brazil since 2012. Before that, she spent five years at the New Museum in New York, where she held the position of Keith Haring director and curated the 2012 Triennial, The Ungovernables. She also founded and curated the Gallery at REDCAT in Los Angeles from 2003 to 2007 and curated the 2015 Sharjah Biennial 12.
