Eugenio Tibaldi's 'Architetture dell'isolamento' at Tenuta dello Scompiglio

Eugenio Tibaldi (b. 1977, Alba) presents 'Architetture dell'isolamento' at Tenuta dello Scompiglio in Tuscany, curated by Angel Moya Garcia. The exhibition is built around an archive acquired by Tibaldi in late 2019 from an anonymous individual (born 1929, died 2011) who obsessively collected books, objects, receipts, tank models, fascist membership cards, and medals. Tibaldi reconfigures these materials into a seven-part journey that explores themes of power, isolation, and repetition. Key works include 'Democratization of the human defect' (2021), 199 watercolors on engravings from Enrico Gonin's 19th-century album of Savoy castles, overlaid with brightly colored dildos to critique power structures. 'Isolation landscape 01' and '02' (2021) transform encyclopedias into mountainous landscapes referencing Amman to Mount Horeb and the Alps. 'Symposium' (2021) features a chair with branches holding 1008 bird illustrations by François-Nicolas Martinet from Buffon's 'Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux' (1813–1815). 'Architettura dell'isolamento 01' (2021) is an immersive installation with objects from X's archive, including insurance policies, checkbooks, pornographic magazines, and photographs. The exhibition runs at Tenuta dello Scompiglio.
