Eugenio Barba's Living Archive LAFLIS Opens at Lecce's Biblioteca Bernardini
The Biblioteca Bernardini in Lecce, Italy, has launched the Living Archive Floating Islands (LAFLIS), honoring Eugenio Barba, the founder of Odin Teatret. This event, which took place from October 4 to 6, 2023, showcased a variety of exhibitions, installations, book launches, films, and performances at Museo Castromediano and Cantieri Teatrali Koreja, culminating in a guided tour of Odin Teatret locations in Salento. The archive consists of materials contributed by Barba regarding his work and the Odin Teatret. Architect Luca Ruzza designed the space, incorporating interactive features by OpenLab Company and digital mappings. A Scientific Committee appointed by Barba will oversee cultural initiatives. LAFLIS is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Third Theatre movement, following the 2021 acquisition of the Carmelo Bene archive at the same venue.
