Eugene Shishkin's (UN)dressing Photobook Captures the Intimacy of Daily Rituals

publication · 2026-04-26

Eugene Shishkin's photobook (UN)dressing, published by Badlon Edition, explores the intimate act of dressing and undressing. The project originated from Shishkin's personal practice of shooting a roll of film daily for a month, twice a year. He uses panoramic compositions made from multiple overlapping frames to capture the routine gesture. The subjects are photographed in their homes, adding vulnerability and authenticity. The book comprises five image series, each offering a voyeuristic glimpse into private moments. After completing the project, Shishkin shared the images with Ksenia Chilingarova, director of Badlon Magazine, who proposed publishing it as a book, marking Badlon Edition's first release. (UN)dressing debuted at MIA Photo in 2024.
