Ettore Spalletti Receives Honorary Degree in Architecture from University of Pescara

Ettore Spalletti was awarded an Honorary Degree in Architecture by the University of Pescara during a ceremony at the Aula Magna of the Polo Pindaro. The event included a Prolusione by Paolo Fusero, director of the Department of Architecture, and a Laudatio by Nicola Di Battista, director of Domus. Spalletti delivered a moving Lectio Doctoralis, recalling the 1970s as a time of poetry, music, cinema, and seaside walks, and expressing hope for a future focused on giving rather than taking. Following the ceremony, a debate on the relationship between art and architecture featured guests Hans Kollhoff, Francesco Venezia, Nicola Di Battista, and architect Patrizia Leonelli. The discussion highlighted a recent collaboration between Leonelli and Spalletti at Villa Serena in Città Sant'Angelo, where Leonelli renovated the chapel and designed the Sala del Commiato. Spalletti transformed the space into a total work of art, designing every element from the white marble altar to the Madonna Immacolata covered in blue powder, merging painting, sculpture, color, and light with architecture.
