Ettore Spalletti and Dan Graham in Dialogue at Marian Goodman Gallery Paris

Marian Goodman Gallery in Paris presents a dual exhibition pairing the works of Italian artist Ettore Spalletti (1940–2019) and American artist Dan Graham (1942–2022), on view through June 20, 2026. The show explores how both artists, though from different backgrounds, created spaces where color, form, and perception engage the viewer's body and gaze. Spalletti's practice merges painting and sculpture, drawing on Italian Renaissance masters like Piero della Francesca and Raphael, using atmospheric colors that envelop the observer. Graham's steel-and-glass pavilions, such as 'Tight Squeeze' (2015), originally designed for Le Corbusier's Cité Radieuse in Marseille, use reflective and transparent panels to blur boundaries between interior and exterior, public and private. The exhibition includes Spalletti's 'Colonna sola' (2014), 'Carte rosa' (1998), and works in alabaster and onyx, alongside Graham's models like 'Half Cylinder/Perforated Steel Triangular Enclosure' (2008). Both artists reject categorization, with Spalletti describing his colors as landscapes and Graham emphasizing the utopian quality of simultaneous transparency and reflection.
