Ettore Sottsass Centenary Show 'Pagine' Opens in Turin During FLAT Fair

In Turin, a new exhibition titled 'Pagine' celebrates the centenary of Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007), the influential architect and designer. Curated by Elena Volpato, the show is staged in a historic palazzo during the first edition of FLAT, an international art publishing fair. 'Pagine' runs concurrently with 'Lettura per voci e silenzio' at Palazzo Cisterna. The exhibition focuses on Sottsass's printed works—books, magazines, pamphlets—arranged chronologically to mirror his autobiography 'Scritto di notte' (Adelphi). It spans from the 1962 'Room East 128. Chronicle' to calligraphy pieces like 'Kena Upanisad', highlighting his versatility across formats from greeting cards to Memphis catalogues. The show follows a recent retrospective at the MET Breuer in New York and precedes one at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam in April 2018. It also comes after the success of 'There is a Planet' at Triennale Milano, which runs until March 2018. Volpato describes the exhibition as a 'diary laid open', tracing Sottsass's life through collaborations with poets, writers, artists, photographers, and his partners.
