Ettore Mazza Debuts with Neolithic Graphic Novel 'Il sentiero delle ossa'

publication · 2026-05-04

Ettore Mazza (born 1994 in Desenzano del Garda) makes his official debut in the world of comics with 'Il sentiero delle ossa', a graphic novel set in the Neolithic period published by Edizioni BD. The story follows two inseparable friends, Acca and Gi, who flee their violent village in search of a better life, facing natural obstacles. The book is the culmination of Mazza's studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna and years of self-publishing with a collective he co-founded in 2015. Mazza conducted extensive research using archaeological studies and consulted experts, including Jacopo Conforti of the University of Pisa and Stefano Ricci Cortili of the University of Siena, to ensure historical plausibility. The graphic novel will be released on September 25, 2019, priced at €17. Mazza expresses gratitude to editor Valerio Stivè for creative freedom and hopes the book reaches audiences beyond traditional comic venues, such as museums.
