Etsumi Dot Sight Plate Lets Photographers Mount Gun Sights on Cameras
Japanese company Etsumi has introduced the Dot Sight Plate (E-2582), a $9 accessory that allows photographers to attach military-grade optical and rifle sights to their cameras via Picatinny rails. The plate mounts to the camera's 1/4-inch screw hole and features side rails for sight attachment. This is not Etsumi's first foray into firearm-inspired photography gear; in 2015, they released a bracket for red dot sights on mirrorless cameras. The OM System EE-1 Dot Sight, a $200 accessory still available, offers similar functionality. Photography's intersection with guns includes Leica's rare Leitz Rifle Camera (sold for ~$170,000) and the Soviet Zenit Fotosniper. The 2023 Stockcam, a military-inspired gun stock for cameras, appears to have failed. The Dot Sight Plate will be available in Japan from May 8, 2026, for 1,430 yen.
