Etruscan Treasures Return: Festival and New Acquisitions in Italy
After eight years, the princely tomb assemblages of the Barberini and Bernardini have made their way back to Villa Poniatowski. This return was marked by the inaugural archaeological-historical festival "Festa Etrusca! La storia si racconta," held on September 25–26, 2021, at the Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia in Rome. Organized by Maurizio Amoroso, CEO of Entertainment Game Apps, and museum director Valentino Nizzo, the festival included discussions on Etruscan heritage, cultural video games, and historical reenactments, along with educational workshops and guided tours. The tombs, from the early 7th century BCE, showcase remarkable goldsmithing and bronze work. Additionally, the Fondazione Luigi Rovati, in partnership with the Soprintendenza Archeologia, repatriated "Il viaggiatore Etrusco," a fragment of a terracotta slab from the late 6th to early 5th centuries BCE, which will be restored and exhibited in Rome, Venice, and Milan.
