Etruscan temple in Rome to become digital immersive space
The Tempio di Alatri, an Etruscan temple from the late 19th century located within the ETRU Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia in Rome, is undergoing a transformation into a digital immersive environment. Restoration work commenced on April 14, 2021, and is anticipated to conclude in November 2021, with funding amounting to €300,000 from Italy's 2015 stability law and €1 million from the Lazio Innova initiative. Constructed by Adolfo Cozza and Hermann Winnefeld between 1889 and 1891, it was inaugurated in 1891 under the direction of Felice Barnabei. Current director Valentino Nizzo aims to introduce enhancements, including an artistic lighting feature, better accessibility by 2022, a café reopening, and redevelopment of Villa Poniatowski by 2025. Additionally, digital hotspots will be established at Museo civico di Alatri and Parco Archeologico etrusco di Vulci.
