Étoile: Amy Sherman-Palladino's Dance Series Premieres on Prime Video

Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino's new series 'Étoile' (Prime Video) takes a satirical approach to the dance world, contrasting with the usual dramatic portrayals seen in 'Black Swan' or 'Tiny Pretty Things'. The show follows the Metropolitan Ballet Theater in New York and the Paris Opera Ballet, both struggling financially and losing audiences. Their solution: exchange dancers and choreographers between the two institutions. The cast includes Luke Kirby as Jack McMillan, executive director of the Metropolitan Ballet Theater, and Charlotte Gainsbourg as Geneviève, director of the Paris Opera. Professional dancers Lauren Cuthbertson (Royal Ballet), John Lam (Boston Ballet), Tiler Peck, and Unity Phelan (New York City Ballet) appear. Choreographer Marguerite Derricks created about 15 pieces and recreated classical ballets. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
