Etnia House of Arts Launches Residency Program in Venice
Etnia Eyewear Culture has opened Etnia House of Arts, a contemporary art space in the restored Chiesa dell’Abbazia della Misericordia in Venice. The space hosts an international residency program where artists stay for two weeks and create works starting from the eyeglass as a conceptual surface. The first two residents were Conxi Sane (Spain, 1986), who works between Berlin and Málaga, and Greta Pllana (Durrës, 1992), based in Venice. Sane's project 'The Shape I Kept' deconstructs a preexisting frame to explore social pressure and identity. Pllana's 'Membrane' examines the permeable boundary between visible and invisible. The program includes exhibitions, site-specific interventions, performances, and talks, aiming to merge artistic production with public experience.
