Estudiosix Launches Inaugural Artist Residency Open Call in Austin

institutional · 2026-05-18

Estudiosix (e6), a newly established artist residency and cultural workspace in Austin, has announced its inaugural call for six-month residencies. This initiative, launched in collaboration with Old 6th, a project aimed at revitalizing the century-old Old 6th Street corridor in downtown Austin, seeks to foster a community-centered model focused on economic sustainability and shared resources. Founder Mark Hilton expressed the intention to cultivate a space driven by the creativity of resident artists. According to Director Jordan Nelsen, “E6 is built by artists, for artists.” Currently, nine artists from Austin are part of a test cohort, including photographer Ariana Gomez and painters Manik Raj Nakra, Alexandra Robinson, and Matt Rebholz. The residency will operate from September 1, 2026, to March 1, 2027, with applications due by July 9 via AnyArtist.org.
