Estorick Collection to close for five-month renovation
The Estorick Collection in London, which focuses on Italian modern art, will undergo a five-month renovation starting August 2016, managed by Nathaniel Gee Architects, the museum's original designers. This renovation will enhance the entrance, bookshop, staircases, galleries, and garden, introducing a new greenhouse that connects the café to outdoor areas. The museum is set to reopen in January 2017 with the exhibition "War in the Sunshine: The British in Italy 1917-1918." Established by American philanthropist Eric Estorick, who moved to the UK post-WWII, the museum was inaugurated in 1998 within a Georgian townhouse in Canonbury Square, Islington, showcasing works by artists such as Gino Severini and Amedeo Modigliani, along with temporary exhibits featuring various contemporary artists.
