Esther Stocker's 'Ritorno alla razionalità' at 10 A.M. ART in Milan

Esther Stocker (born 1974 in Silandro) presents 'Ritorno alla razionalità', a site-specific exhibition at 10 A.M. ART gallery in Milan. The immersive, three-dimensional installation uses elementary geometric forms—segments, squares, rectangles—to create perceptual patterns based on precise logics of relation, repetition, and alternation, reflecting movements of thought. Stocker's work engages with Gestalt psychology and the relationship between vision and reality, introducing disorganized, illogical, and irrational human elements that disrupt seemingly perfect systems. The artist states she combines analytical research with abstraction and human experience to show the limits of perfect systems, emphasizing the need to escape rigid structures to develop individuality. Her systems appear perfect but include incomplete geometries, logical interruptions, and deviations, revealing imperfection as an inseparable part of the whole. The exhibition also includes works on canvas and paper on the lower floor: sculptures where the rational surface of the mathematical grid crumples like floating steroids in white space, and two bichrome canvases playing with perception of form and depth in black-and-white patterns.
