Estate Romana 2021: Rome's Summer Arts Program Extended into Autumn
The 2021 Estate Romana cultural season was inaugurated by Rome's municipal authorities, with Mayor Virginia Raggi and Culture Councillor Lorenza Fruci at the helm. This season, which extends from June until autumn, was introduced at Casa del Cinema in Villa Borghese, featuring a logo inspired by Umberto Prencipe's 1925 artwork "Nuvole di giugno." Key events include the reopening of the Gabii archaeological site, the transformation of 39 public libraries into outdoor reading spaces, the BUFFALO festival (June 10-13), a Shakespeare season at the Silvano Toti Globe Theatre, Marina Abramović's performance on July 16, and the "Sun & Sea" installation (June 22-July 4). Notable exhibitions include "Back to Nature 2021" and "Roma. Nascita di una capitale 1870-1915." Furthermore, 65 projects have been allocated €1.75 million, with applications for cultural activities still being accepted.
