Essence Harden and Paulina Pobocha to Curate Made in L.A. 2025
The Hammer Museum has named Essence Harden and Paulina Pobocha as co-curators for the upcoming 2025 biennial, Made in L.A. Harden, who serves as a curator at the California African American Museum, is also overseeing the Focus section at the forthcoming Frieze Los Angeles. Pobocha, who recently became the Robert Soros Senior Curator at the Hammer, previously held a position at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Since its inception in 2012, the biennial has highlighted the art scene in Los Angeles. Notable past curators include Diana Nawi, Pablo José Ramírez, and Ashton Cooper (2023); Myriam Ben Salah, Lauren Mackler, and Ikechukwu Onyewuenyi (2020); and Anne Ellegood and Erin Christovale (2018). The 2025 event is set to launch in fall 2025, in partnership with the California African American Museum.
