ESPRit Conference 2022 in Budapest Calls for Papers on Periodicals and Geopolitical Hierarchies
The European Society for Periodical Research (ESPRit) will hold its 10th international conference in Budapest, Hungary, marking its first gathering in East-Central Europe. Scheduled for 2022, the event invites submissions exploring how periodicals challenge notions of geopolitical and social "centers" and "peripheries." Proposals for 20-minute papers, due by February 28, 2022, should examine periodicals from the mid-18th century to the present as forums that give visibility to marginalized groups while sometimes reinforcing dominant powers. The conference theme, "Periodicals Beyond Hierarchies," focuses on encounters between centers and peripheries in the press. Submissions of approximately 250 words, along with a short CV, should be emailed to 2022esprit@gmail.com. Joint panel proposals for three papers are also welcome, requiring a rationale and individual abstracts. More details are available on the ESPRit website.
