ES.lamodaunisce: Asylum-Seeking Designers Show at Brera
During Milan Fashion Week Men’s 2019, a collaborative project named ES.lamodaunisce was launched by the Fondazione Donnaregina for contemporary arts and LESS Società Cooperativa Sociale. Curators Laura Valente and Paola Maddaluno led the initiative involving stylist Stefano Chiassai, who partnered with seven young asylum seekers from various West African nations, including Ivory Coast, Mali, and Nigeria. They designed a unique collection of fifteen outfits, displayed at the Pinacoteca di Brera’s Atrio dei Gesuiti until June 21. The collection later moved to Museo Madre in Naples from July 18-30, supported by Italian fashion brands and artist Mimmo Paladino.
