Erri De Luca, Nicky Nicolai, Stefano Di Battista in live at Sky Arte Festival Napoli

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

On Sunday, May 7 at 6:30 PM, the Basilica di San Gennaro Extra Moenia in Naples will host a live reading-concert featuring writer Erri De Luca, vocalist Nicky Nicolai, and saxophonist Stefano Di Battista, as part of the closing day of the inaugural Sky Arte Festival. The performance, titled 'La Musica Insieme,' will present texts by De Luca set to jazz arrangements by Di Battista and sung by Nicolai. De Luca recounted the collaboration's origin: Di Battista, through mutual friend Michele Afferrante, asked him for a text to set to music. De Luca, then compiling a poetry collection, found none suitable until a seaside evening inspired a page on the Mediterranean titled 'Essere di Medit.' He sent it to Di Battista, who soon returned with a musical version composed by Maurizio Fabrizio and performed by Nicolai. The chosen texts explore themes of the sea, love, and the world outside, blending jazz with Mediterranean influences.
