Erotic Porcelain Through Three Centuries at Museum Schloss Fürstenberg
From May 23 to December 20, 2026, the Museum Schloss Fürstenberg will host a special exhibition titled 'Der edle Akt. Porzellan und Erotik.' This exhibition delves into the portrayal of erotic themes in porcelain art spanning three centuries, showcasing a journey from Rococo whimsy to modern interpretations. It investigates societal views on body, gender, and desire through four key themes: historical and contemporary body representations, expressions of love and lust, the tactile experience of porcelain, and the cultural importance of collecting. The exhibition includes works from the museum's collection as well as loans from renowned manufacturers like Meissen and KPM. Dr. Christine Regus, Secretary General of the Kulturstiftung der Länder, emphasized the exhibition's role in prompting a fresh look at historical art within today's societal discussions. The project is supported by €49,210 from the Kulturstiftung der Länder, alongside contributions from various other organizations.
