Eron's 'Soul of the Wall' at Blueproject Foundation: War Ghosts and Memory
Italian street artist Eron, known since the 1980s for his writing and eclectic visual language, opened the solo exhibition 'Soul of the Wall' at Blueproject Foundation in Barcelona on September 26, 2015, running until October 20. The show transforms the foundation's walls into filters of memory, evoking Barcelona's political and social history. Eron incorporates reproductions of war photographs by Robert Capa and Gerda Taro from the Spanish Civil War, adding chromatic interventions that extend beyond the frames onto the walls. Ghostly portraits of Princess Isabel de Borbón y Borbón (namesake of the street) and architect José Fontsere Mestre (Gaudí's master) appear as pale shadows on the plaster. For the museum café, Eron designed porcelain coffee cups with a skull and silhouettes of child laborers on the bottom, revealed after the last sip.
