Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award 2021: India Wins with Jumboor Estate
India's Jumboor Estate has been honored with the top accolade at the sixth Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award, organized by illycaffè. The competition featured entries from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. A panel of chefs and coffee connoisseurs chose the winning coffee for its rich flavor, which includes hints of chocolate, caramel, citrus, nuts, and fruit. The Coffee Lover's Choice award was given to Proyecto Lift Olopita from Guatemala, represented by Alfonso Urbina Perlata. Additionally, illy commissioned nine artists to design posters for each participating nation, which can be found on their social media platforms. Andrea Illy, president of illycaffè, emphasized that this marks India's inaugural victory, showcasing its exemplary cultivation practices.
