Ernesta Caviola's Photographic Reinterpretation of Piero della Francesca in Arezzo
At the Basilica of San Francesco in Arezzo, the exhibition 'Verso la Luce' showcases twelve analog color photographs alongside a video that highlights Piero della Francesca's frescoes depicting the Legend of the True Cross. Curated by Ernesta Caviola and Rossella Sileno, the exhibit examines history through a female lens, addressing the lack of female representation. To capture the frescoes, Caviola utilized a 35 kg large-format camera, emphasizing historical omissions through material voids. Additionally, architect Gianluca Peluffo has created a site-specific installation for the exhibition. Caviola's upcoming endeavors include a photographic series titled 'Il corpo di Roma' and two exhibitions set to take place in Venice and Rome. The exhibition is open until January 6.
