Erinni: Transfeminist Curatorial Collective in Rome

artist · 2026-04-27

Erinni is a transfeminist curatorial collective based in Rome, Italy, that merges art and social activism to explore intersections of science, technology, and gender identity. The collective draws inspiration from the Erinyes, chthonic deities of Greek mythology who punish human hubris and restore social balance. Erinni operates as both a singular entity and a plurality of perspectives, reclaiming archaic rage to disrupt power structures and foster inclusivity. Their first project, Beyond Binaries (2022), took place in the Torpignattara suburb of Rome's V municipio. Four artists—Call Monica, Giulia Tomasello, Mara Oscar Cassiani, and Ginevra Petrozzi—were invited to engage with the local community on themes of identity, gender, and transfeminist thought. Call Monica created an affective map of Torpignattara based on residents' emotions. Giulia Tomasello investigated stereotypes and taboos around vaginal fluids to reformulate medical discourse. Mara Oscar Cassiani drew from the video game Mortal Kombat to develop new mythologies of warrior women united by sisterhood. Ginevra Petrozzi questioned the technocapitalist paradigm of prediction, centering collective imagination and desires. The project included a neighborhood study, residency program, workshops, and an exhibition of new works at the independent space AlbumArte in Rome. The article was curated by Dario Moalli and originally published in Artribune Magazine #68.
