Eriko Ito: From Advertising Art Director to Painter of Healing and Hope

Eriko Ito, an artist originally from Japan and now residing in New York City, shifted from a 25-year career in advertising—serving as an Art Director, Design Supervisor, and Art Supervisor—to pursue fine art that emphasizes healing, symbolism, and emotional resilience. After resuming her painting journey in 2025, she quickly earned accolades: in 2026, she garnered four Honorable Mention Awards from Teravarna (including three from the 13th “Portrait” International Juried Art Competition), four awards at the World Art Awards (three for her Luminous Chakra Garden Series), and two Honorable Mentions at the “Portrait” Art Competition hosted by Art Room Gallery. Her artistic focus includes the Luminous Chakra Garden Series, which features flowers in chakra-inspired colors symbolizing growth and balance, and the Vision Board Painting Series, which transforms personal aspirations into unique symbolic narratives. A significant piece, You Are Limitless (oil on canvas), created during a reflective phase, prompted friends to request similar works, leading to the Vision Board series. Currently, Ito balances her role as a remote Art Supervisor while painting in her home studio during mornings, evenings, and weekends. She is working on ten new paintings for both series and aspires to hold a solo exhibition that envelops viewers in a cohesive atmosphere of light, symbolism, and introspection.
