publication · 2026-05-01

French director Erik Bullot has released two publications: "Sortir du cinéma. Histoire virtuelle des relations de l'art et du cinéma" (Éditions du Mamco) and "Renversements 2. Notes sur le cinéma" (Éditions Paris Expérimental). The first book opens with a 1995 statement by Raúl Ruiz regarding the demise of cinema, examining significant historical events such as the 1937 encounter between Hans Richter and Georges Méliès, as well as the 1949 Festival du film maudit in Biarritz, which was arranged by André Bazin. "Renversements 2" gathers writings from 2000 to 2011, focusing on photographic techniques in Arno Schmidt's works and the influence of digital imaging. Geneviève Loup reviewed the books in artpress.
