Eric Papachristos Brings Design Philosophy to Boston's Bristol Lounge
Eric Papachristos, founder of A Street Hospitality, is transforming the former Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons Boston into a 300-seat restaurant and bar with a 400-member private club. The project, designed by Ensemble (a new studio by ex-AvroKO global director Scott Miller), uses luxury train travel as a motif, with six distinct rooms including the members-only Emerald Room. Papachristos, who previously opened La Padrona at Raffles Boston in May 2024 (earning a Michelin recommendation and New York Times recognition), applies his design-first approach: he tested 20 chairs for La Padrona, rejecting most based on seatback angle. His first restaurant Trade (2011, designed by Maryann Thompson) was named to Bon Appétit's top-50 new restaurants. La Padrona was AvroKO's first Boston commission, referencing Milanese architects Gae Aulenti and Piero Portaluppi. Papachristos, born in Boston to Greek immigrants, aims for 'quiet grandeur' at the Four Seasons, using colors from the Public Garden. The Bristol closed in March 2020 after 35 years.
