Erez Nevi Pana's Tropical Milano video installation at 5 Vie

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Erez Nevi Pana, the Israeli designer known for pioneering vegan design, presents 'Tropical Milano,' a video installation curated by Maria Cristina Didero and produced by 5 Vie at their headquarters in Milan. The work moves beyond typical vegan-friendly aesthetics to depict a dystopian future where global warming has rendered Milan a tropical wasteland. In the video, a man enveloped in a cocoon is surrounded by banana plants, paralyzed by a hostile environment. The film, set to techno music by Nimrod Gorovich, uses handcrafted and self-cultivated artifacts such as a mosquito-net cocoon made from banana and pumpkin fibers. Nevi Pana critiques society's inertia in addressing climate change, warning that the exotic Milan some envision may become a grim reality. The installation runs until October 10, 2020, at Via Cesare Correnti 14.
