Erdal Duman's Barricade Installation Turns Viewers into Activists at Pi Artworks Istanbul

Erdal Duman's inaugural solo exhibition at Pi Artworks Istanbul, titled 'If You've Come, Throw a Stone at the Window,' runs from 9 May to 20 June. This exhibition showcases both new creations and works spanning over ten years of the artist's career, shifting the audience from mere spectators to active contributors. A key feature is a barricade sculpture, originally consisting of eighteen separate pieces. Attendees are invited to piece together the barricade, which subsequently reveals text on the gallery walls throughout the exhibition period. This barricade symbolizes a lost instinct of unity against environmental degradation, injustice, and violence. Duman's art encourages participation, transforming the act of assembly into a political commentary.
