Ercole Pignatelli Reinterprets Picasso's Guernica in Palazzo Reale Performance
Ercole Pignatelli, born in 1935 in Lecce, is presenting a 12-day exhibition and performance entitled 'Memento Amare Semper' at the Sala delle Cariatidi in Milan's Palazzo Reale. This event, which honors Picasso's Guernica, will be open until May 16, 2024, with complimentary access via the Arengario staircase adjacent to the Museo del Novecento. Pignatelli is creating a full-scale replica of Guernica (measuring 3.49 x 7.70 meters across nine canvases) in public view. The exhibition features both Picasso's original work and Pignatelli's interpretation, curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti, alongside a display of 15 additional pieces by Pignatelli. Following the performance, the artwork will be donated to nine multi-ethnic schools in Milan. The original Guernica resides at the Reina Sofía in Madrid.
