ERA Gallery Moves to Historic Milan Palace, Opens Group Show

exhibition · 2026-04-26

ERA Gallery, founded in 2019 by Patrizia Tenti and specializing in emerging Asian, African, and American artists alongside rediscovered 20th-century Italian figures, relocated in April 2024 from via Palermo to via Gioacchino Rossini 3 in Milan's Porta Venezia district. The new space occupies a late 19th-century eclectic palace built between 1871 and 1887 by Innocenzo Odescalchi and Pietro Ortelli, once home to patrons like Alexander Iolas and Italian artists. On June 20, 2024, the gallery opened 'Shaping Grace and Disquiet,' curated by Domenico De Chirico, featuring Chidinma Nnoli (b. 1998, Enugu, Nigeria), Michael Igwe (b. 1994, Lagos, Nigeria), Caterina Sammartino (b. 1997, Rome), Luca Di Terlizzi (b. 1998, Tivoli), and Gianmarco Porru (b. 1989, Oristano). The exhibition draws on Edmund Husserl's concept of Lebenswelt (life-world), exploring the subconscious and perceptions of good, truth, justice, and beauty. The artists address life, death, vulnerability, memory, time, and social hierarchies through abstract landscapes and impenetrable moods. The palace also houses Ciaccia Levi (Paris), Galerie Gregor Staiger (Switzerland), and Conceptual Fine Arts, and features a romantic courtyard with Candoglia marble columns. The surrounding Quadrilatero del Silenzio, between via Serbelloni, via Mozart, via Cappuccini, and via Vivaio, is known for its silence, statues, mosaics, and hidden gardens, including Villa Invernizzi's pink flamingos.
