Epicarmo Invernizzi Remembers François Morellet
Epicarmo Invernizzi, the founder of A arte Invernizzi in Milan, fondly remembers his friendship with French artist François Morellet, who passed away in May 2016. Their paths crossed in the mid-1980s through Gianni Colombo. In 1994, Invernizzi curated an exhibition that featured Morellet alongside Dadamaino and Günther Uecker. Over the years, the gallery hosted ten solo exhibitions of Morellet’s art, in addition to several group shows. Invernizzi characterizes Morellet as inventive and playful, noting his enthusiasm for early electronic translators and his creative use of palindromes. Morellet produced groundbreaking works from the 1950s onward. Invernizzi also visited Morellet's studio in Cholet. The current solo exhibition of Michel Verjux honors Morellet, describing him as a "spirito birichino, ironico e inventivo."
