Enzo Cucchi's Retrospective at Fondazione Menegaz Celebrates 15th Anniversary

Fondazione Menegaz in Castelbasso, Italy, presents 'La Mostra', a comprehensive exhibition of Enzo Cucchi's works from 1978 to 2023, marking the foundation's 15th anniversary. Curated by Ilaria Bernardi, the show features around fifty pieces including paintings, sculptures, and drawings spread across three floors. Highlights include the early installation 'Senza Titolo' (1978) combining canvas and ceramic, and recent works like 'Stimmata' (2018) and 'Quadro sfinito Post-Pop' (2021). The exhibition emphasizes drawing as central to Cucchi's practice, with the artist stating, 'It is from drawing that the character of every human creature emerges.' The show ideally dialogues with Cucchi's retrospective 'Il poeta e il mago' at MAXXI. Foundation president Osvaldo Menegaz explained the choice of Cucchi for the anniversary, citing his unique ability to unite drawing, painting, and sculpture. The foundation aims to expand its programming to year-round exhibitions and commission site-specific projects to activate the Genius Loci.
