Enzo Cucchi's Bibliophilic Oeuvre at MAXXI Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-27

MAXXI Rome is currently hosting a special exhibition dedicated to Enzo Cucchi, who was born in 1949 in Morro d'Alba. Curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Luigia Lonardelli, the show, organized by Claudia Reale in Galleria 4, features over 200 artworks, many of which are being seen for the first time. Instead of following a timeline, the display invites guests to explore Cucchi’s artistic influences, such as Ezra Pound and Orson Welles, curated by Francesco Longhi. Among the highlights are 'Religione' (2013) and 'La Città incantata' (1986). Tactile workshops called 'Sculture interiori' will take place in September 2023, allowing visually impaired participants to interact with marble sculptures. Cucchi, associated with the Transavanguardia movement since 1979, continues to impact emerging artists.
