Enzo Cosimi's 'Il corpo originario' at Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo in Rome
Enzo Cosimi curates 'Il corpo originario', a three-day event at Teatro Biblioteca Quarticciolo in Rome from December 28 to 30, 2021. The project transforms the theater into a fragmented landscape of installations, performances, and rooms, drawing on Cosimi's last decade of work. It explores the politics of desire through mystical ecstasy, chemical euphoria, death, transsexuality, and the dematerialization of bodies in transition. The program includes site-specific renactments and premieres: 'Take me up, Take me higher' (Dec 28) with photographer Lorenzo Castore; 'Off Label' (Dec 29) with artist-activist Egon Botteghi, a FtoM transsexuality investigation; and 'The Respirator' (Dec 29) with sound by Gregory Whitehead, metaphorically addressing the pandemic. The closing piece 'Visione Africana', originally created for Gabriele Lavia's 'My_Day_ May_Day', evokes African ghosts and colonial trauma through ritual, with sound by Filippo Lilli and performer Valentina Sansone. A theoretical meeting 'Linguaggi dell’installazione' curated by Valentina Valentini discusses intersections of theater, art, and new media.
