Ensemble Collective Wins Best Exhibition at DesignTO 2026 for Second Year
The Ensemble collective, co-founded by Nicholas Sangaré and Anaïe Dufresne, won DesignTO's Best Exhibition award for the second consecutive year with their group show "Pot-au-Feu" at The Plumb gallery in Toronto. The exhibition featured nearly two dozen Québécois designers and artists, including Simon Johns, Le Tenon & la Mortaise, Gabriel Page, Karim Charlebois, Lambert & Fils, Atelier Fomenta, Igor Zigor, JETA, Studio Séjour, Sangaré Studio, Alex Joncas, and Simon S. Belleau. The show was organized into themed rooms—a "Nylon Room" with stretched textiles and a "Tobacco Room" evoking an old chateau smoking parlour—to harmonize eclectic works. Highlights included a glass and ceramic floor lamp by Simon Johns, a solid wood dining table by Le Tenon & la Mortaise, rubber tables by Atelier Fomenta, and leather lamps by JETA and Studio Séjour. The opening credits featured footage from the 1991 French film Les Amants du Pont-Neuf. Ensemble's first group show at The Plumb in 2025 also won Best Exhibition. Two earlier Ensemble shows took place in Montreal in July and November 2025.
