Enrico Marinelli Award Launches with Sculpture Commission for Florence Cathedral Museum
The Enrico Marinelli Contemporary Art Award has been launched by the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore and the Guild of the Dome Association to commemorate Enrico Marinelli, who passed away in February 2016. Funded by Eurovita Assicurazioni, this award will commission a sculpture for the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence. The selected artist is required to produce an original piece in Tuscany, collaborating with local artisans, which will be displayed for six months prior to becoming part of the museum's collection. Curated by Adelina von Fürstenberg, the jury features Micol Forti, David Stuart Elliott, Antonio Natali, Christian Oxenius, and Denys Zacharopoulos. Out of 45 submissions, five finalists were chosen, focusing on the theme "Hope." The winner will receive a residency in Florence in the summer of 2018, with the unveiling set for October 2018.
