Enrico Della Torre Exhibition at Museo Internazionale della Grafica

The Museo Internazionale della Grafica in Castronuovo di Sant'Andrea, Basilicata, presents a new exhibition focused on the graphic work of Enrico Della Torre (born 1931 in Pizzighettone). The show synthesizes his universe of printmaking techniques including burin, aquatint, etching, soft ground, serigraphy, and mixed media. The exhibition begins with 'Eden', a 1955 etching that still shows figurative breaths but emphasizes the importance of line—a cardinal point of his practice. Mature compositions demonstrate a dialectical ability to alternate signs and forms in a persistent, balanced, yet surprising rhythm. Della Torre, primarily a painter, uses engraving as a space for experimentation and dialogue with poets and theorists such as Vittorio Sereni and Gillo Dorfles, as well as an escape from geometry to open mysterious and passionate new vistas. This is the latest act of a path initiated years ago by art historian Giuseppe Appella, who donated a dense graphic collection to his hometown. The museum has attracted artists and collections, becoming a fascinating reference point, and is awaiting new spaces expected to open in autumn.
