Enologismi: Wine and Art Converge at Venice’s Historic Cucchini Docks
Starting January 20, 2024, the Docks Cantieri Cucchini on the islet of San Pietro di Castello in Venice will host Enologismi, a new cultural program blending wine, art, literature, music, history, and photography. The project is conceived by Laura Riolfatto, a visual artist, sommelier, and wine & food stylist, who manages the docks with Francesco Cucchini, the restorer of the historic spaces. Enologismi aims to transform the Tesa2, the smallest of the three dock spaces, into a hybrid venue open to the public by appointment for paid events. The program runs until March 30, 2024, with potential extension. The inaugural event on January 20 features a book presentation by Angelo Peretti titled "Esercizi spirituali per bevitori di vino" and the opening of a photography exhibition by Andrea Morucchio. Titled "L’Estetica del tempo sospeso," the exhibition focuses on Porto Marghera and the productive soul of the lagoon, created in collaboration with the Museo del Paesaggio di Torre di Mosto. Subsequent events include a photography course, literary and musical tastings like "Walk on the Wine Side" on February 2 with Gianpaolo Giacobbo and Massimo Zardo linking rock history and natural wines, and a historical talk on February 4 by Alessia Cipolla on the design and history of drinking glasses. Riolfatto describes Enologismi as a neologism identifying a new cultural-enological movement, an experiment with room to grow based on public response.
