ENNOVA Art Biennale Debuts with 91 Artists Across Four Thematic Chapters

festival-fair · 2026-04-23

The first ENNOVA Art Biennale, hosted by the ENNOVA Art Museum, will open on October 26, 2024, and to the public on October 27. Curated by Fumio Nanjo, the biennale features a curatorial research team including Miwa Kutsuna, Andrea Del Guercio, Hatanaka Minoru, and Qilan Shen. Themed 'Multiple Future: a new vision of our life,' it gathers 91 artists from 24 countries, with nearly 100 works displayed across 10,000 square meters in five halls and public spaces. The biennale is structured into four chapters: 'Expansion on Sounds and Voices,' 'Creation on the Borders,' 'Future of Environment,' and 'Post-Anthropocene.' The first chapter highlights sound as artistic material, referencing John Cage's 4'33'' and showcasing 30 artists including Carsten Nicolai and Krsn Brasko. The second chapter features 13 artists exploring cross-disciplinary boundaries, such as Patrick Tresset's AI-driven robotic installation and Jiayu Liu's AI-generated natural phenomena. The third chapter addresses environmental issues with works like Zadok Ben-David's 'Blackfield' and Luke Jerram's 'Gaia.' The final chapter presents 32 artists contemplating humanity's future, including Xu Bing, Cao Fei, and Ryoji Ikeda. The biennale aims to position the ENNOVA Art Museum as a leading platform for global artistic exchange in the Jing-Jin-Ji cluster.
