Ennead Architects completes Tenaska Center in Omaha
Ennead Architects has finished the Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement in Omaha, Nebraska, the third and final building on the Omaha Performing Arts campus. The 92,200-square-foot center hosts education and community programming, including rehearsal spaces for dance and vocal ensembles. It connects Omaha's historic and Capitol District downtown. The facade features glass and vertical fins with Chameleon paint that shifts color with solar orientation, minimizing heat gain while giving a kinetic presence. Inside, the Joan Squires Atrium, named after the sitting Omaha Performing Arts president, includes a site-specific installation by Eva LeWitt. Holland Basham served as architect of record. Ennead also designed the campus masterplan, which previously included the Holland Performing Arts Center (1995) and Steelhouse Omaha (2023). Ennead was recently acquired by CannonDesign.
