ENESS Transforms Retired ATM into AI Confession Booth in Adelaide
The Australian studio ENESS, under the direction of artist Nimrod Weis, has introduced HP*ATM (Human Psyche AI Teller Machine), an innovative interactive piece that transforms an old ATM into a confessional for algorithms. This installation is featured in the group exhibition Automation Bias, hosted by FUTUREJUICE at 248 Flinders St, Adelaide, from 2 July to 30 August 2026. Coinciding with Illuminate Adelaide, the exhibition also showcases works by artists such as James Dodd, EJ Son, Marian Sandberg, and Stelarc. HP*ATM includes an AI-generated inflatable figure within the ATM's casing, marked by a small Noren curtain and a vintage telephone handset for interaction. Weis highlights the playful critique of AI's influence on psychological insights, referencing the human-like branding of automated products like Alexa and Siri.
